NOW and other women’s political communities support Dodson
For 43rd District House Seat
August 23, 2006
Seattle, WA – The Washington State National Organization for Women Political Action Committee (NOW/PAC) has solely endorsed Lynne Dodson for State Representative in the 43rd district. Despite five other Democratic candidates all vying for the women’s vote, Lynne Dodson’s commitment and activist record won over Seattle women’s political communities.
“Lynne Dodson is the strongest candidate for women’s rights and concerns. Her experience on issues from racial justice, healthcare, education, reproductive justice, tax reform, welfare rights, environmental justice, workers rights and LGBT liberation are all concerns for women.” said Linda Tosti-Lane, treasurer of the Washington State NOW/PAC. “We need more effective, progressive women candidates representing women’s issues in the legislature.”
Dodson is the only candidate supported by the National Women’s Political Caucus, and the Washington State Business and Professional Women and she received a five star rating from NARAL, Pro Choice Washington. She has the support of education, labor, healthcare, social service, and civil rights communities and her coalition base continues to grow.
“Women’s rights are human rights and as a woman and a feminist I will continue to advocate and fight for issues that matter to women.” said Lynne Dodson.
Dodson is a teacher at Seattle Central Community College, the former President of the American Federation of Teachers Local Union #1789, a former Co-Chair of Washington State Jobs with Justice and the mother of two young adults.
State legislators Sherry Appleton, Steve Conway, Tami Green, Phyllis Kenney, Zack Hudgins, Bob Hasegawa, Karen Keiser, Adam Kline, Eric Pettigrew, Mary Helen Roberts, Mike Sells and Sharon Tomiko Santos have endorsed Dodson along with many other community leaders. A growing list of her supporters is available at www.LynneToWin.org .
