Washington Education Association Endorses
Lynne Dodson For 43rd District House Seat
June 19, 2006
Washington Education Association (WEA) announced its sole endorsement of Lynne Dodson for State Representative in the 43rd Legislative District. Lynne Dodson is the only teacher in the race and her campaign is focused on improving Washington’s education system.
"Lynne Dodson is dedicated to public education," said Wendy Kimball, President of the Seattle Education Association. "As the next Representative from the 43rd District, we know she will work tirelessly for our schools."
The 43rd is one of the centers of public education in Seattle. The district includes the University of Washington, Seattle Central Community College and many Seattle Public Schools.
"Voters consistently identify education as their top legislative priority," said Dodson's political consultant Lisa MacLean. "The sole WEA endorsement further credentials Dodson as the candidate in the 43rd district race who is the most qualified to work on this issue."
A teacher at Seattle Central Community College, Dodson was the President of the American Federation of Teachers Local Union #1789, and the mother of two young adults who both graduated from Seattle Public Schools.
"I’m committed to a seamless, quality pre-K through higher education public system," said Dodson. "Public education is our paramount responsibility. It requires public funding, community involvement, and committed, strong political leadership."
Lynne Dodson has also been endorsed by the American Federation of Teachers- Washington, Women’s Political Caucus of King County, Washington State Labor Council and Seattle Metropolitan Elections Committee. A growing list of her supporters is available at www.LynneToWin.org.
